I was apprehensive in doing this job, but the '95 stock muffler turned out to be on quite loosely. In fact think it had been leaking behind the heat shield.
The SuperTrapp installation was really really tight. I didn't want to cut anything. Also I used Innovation Racing's exhaust sealant tape (from Dennis Kirk) to be sure no leaks, and coated the inside of the Trapp with 2 coats of "Blue Shield", messy and an extra $22.00, my local bike shop recommended this.
I'm not looking for top end on a Savage, just too light of a bike for that, found for my taste 4 discs are best. Its been unusally cold, so I've put only ten miles on it. Sounds a little tinny at some rpm's. But 45 -50 mph sounds quite nice. Overall performance seems to have changed for the better. Pipe looks nicer than I expected on the bike, and no discoloration at all to this point, probally really too early to tell.
Thanks to those who have posted all the information on this project, and the advice given to me.
